The magic of Christmas never ends, and its greatest gifts are family and friends. Unknown
There’s nothing like a Christmas tree brimming with decorations made with love and care by your children. And as they grow up, these decorations will be a special little reminder of the magic of Christmas. A fun activity for the whole family, today we show you three cheap and simple ideas for creating these unique decorations that will ensure your Christmas tree sparkles for years to come!
OPTION 1: Melted Crayons Bauble
What you will need:
- Glass Christmas Baubles - these can be purchased from craft stores, Spotlight, Amazon AU, Catch.com.au
- Ribbon or twine to hang your baubles
- Crayons - whatever colours you desire
- A hairdryer - for melting the crayons
- Scissors
Step 1:
Using your scissors, snip a small part off your crayon - repeat this process for whatever colours you decide to use. Then remove the top of the bauble and insert one of the crayon snippets.
Step 2:
Use your hairdryer to melt the crayon.
Note - the glass may get a little hot, so be sure to protect your hands by popping the bauble in a small container or similar to stop it from rolling around. You could also use some tongs or a small towel.
Step 3:
As the crayon melts, swirl it around. Then, repeat the process for each other colour you would like to include. Keep going until you reach your desired look.
Step 4:
To finish, add the top back onto the bauble and add some ribbon or twine at the desired length so you can hang it up!
OPTION 2: Epsom Salt Snow Bauble
What you will need:
- Glass Christmas Baubles - these can be purchased from craft stores, Spotlight, Amazon AU, Catch.com.au
- 1 Packet of Epsom Salts
- Spray adhesive
- A small container to put the salts in
Step 1:
Pop some epsom salts into a container. Add as much as you need in order to coat your bauble.
Step 2:
Take your spray glue and apply a coating of glue to the glass.
Step 3:
Dip the bauble in your container filled with epsom salts. Then, repeat for each bauble you want to decorate!
Step 4:
To finish, add some ribbon or twine at the desired length so you can hang it up!
OPTION 3: Glitter Fill Bauble
What you will need:
- Glass Christmas Baubles - these can be purchased from craft stores, Spotlight, Amazon AU, Catch.com.au
- Glitter stars to fill the bauble (you can substitute with anything else that is sparkly though)!
- Paper and pencil (if you want to include a promise to Santa or a wish for the year ahead perhaps)!
Step 1:
Remove the top of the bauble and insert your glitter stars.
Step 2:
If you also want to include a message, have the kids write it on a small strip of paper and pop inside (repeat if you want to add more than one message).
Step 3:
To finish, add the top back onto the bauble and add some ribbon or twine at the desired length so you can hang it up!
